The Social Media Assistant will join a team responsible for marketing University Apartments at WVU which include College Park, University Place, University Park and Vandalia Apartments.
Major duties and responsibilities will vary but include assisting in the content creation for the apartments’ social media platforms, as well as other tasks within the marketing team.
There will also be opportunity to create, develop, and execute social media ideas and engage with followers of the social media accounts in a fun work environment. You will participate in as many operations and functions as appropriate and within the University Apartments team.
JOB DESCRIPTION
SOCIAL MEDIA
- Daily posting/management/engagement on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the WVU University Apartments account.
- Develop content for University Apartments social media accounts which include Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
- Planning and scheduling posts for social platforms with AgoraPulse and platform-specific scheduling tools.
- Maintain the creation, and posting, of established social features (e.g. “Apartment Tip Tuesday”, Student Athlete of the Week, etc.)
- Search for user-generated content to post.
- Develop a weekly content calendar for Instagram and Facebook stories.
- Monitor and engage with comments on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
- Monitor and engage with private messages, providing superior customer service.
- Identify new trends in social media for potential social ideas
- Collaborate with other University Apartment Marketing Team members for duties as-needed, and as-available.
- Take video and photographs at the communities and events.
- Participate in team meetings with University Apartments and University Relations teams.
- Execute social media goals developed by marketing strategist.
MARKETING
- Helps develop and initiate activities, special events, and programs as needed at
the apartment communities. This would include housing fairs, open houses, resident
appreciation month, etc.
- Attend events to gather photos and content for social media promotion.
- Assist the marketing team by distributing and posting signage across campus, working
events such as housing fairs and open houses, giving tours of showrooms, etc.
as needed.
- Work athletic events which include home football, basketball and baseball games. Responsibilities would include set-up and tear down, creating brand awareness, interacting with the public who pass by, talk with the public about our four properties and informing them of the amenities/benefits, handing out promotional material and more.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Demonstrated knowledge of all popular social media platforms, especially Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
- Experience in designing, creating and managing promotions for any social advertising campaigns is a plus
- High attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to stay up to date with social media marketing trends and industry standards.
- Willingness to learn new skills.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a second-year student or higher at WVU and enrolled full-time.
- Must be able to bring required identification documents to campus to complete employee onboarding process with WVU HR. (examples: driver’s license, passport, SSC, voided check).
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Marina Tower
is this position's physical location, when not on location across campus or working
remote.
- Must be able to work remotely and on-site, as needed.
TIME COMMITMENT
- This position is mostly remote, but individual must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes independent hours, office hours and scheduled events.
- Availability should include 8 a.m.-5 p.m. as scheduled; we will work around your
class schedule. Some evening and weekend work as needed, for events.
- Must be able to work 20 hours each week at the rate of $11 an hour.
